Battle of Agincourt

Last week we had a great time making knight helmets as part of our procedural writing and then we got to wear them for a battle on the front field. This was all part of the Nelson Arts Festival and it was so much fun!

Technology Challenge

This week we have been busy with our first school technology. We are busy brushing up on our skills in preparation for the BP Technology Challenge which will be held next month. Our first challenge was to build a free standing bridge which would then hold a 300g 'vehicle'. The bridge was judged on whether the bridge could support the 300g vehicle whilst it was being pulled across the full length of the bridge. There were a few other conditions such as the bridge had a minimum clearance height of 15 cm and was not permitted to be held during testing except to stop it from sliding on the floor. Here are a few pictures of the challenge.

Oilution Curtain

We have finally finished our installation for the Slick project and I have to say it looks stunning! Well done Room 3 for persevering with the project. A huge thank you to Melissa, Luca's mum for helping with the project, I don't think we could have done it without her help and guidance. Also to Ann who helped with the most important part of tying the knots on the fishing line to fix the curtain to the pole. Great team work everyone! Check out the curtain for yourself over at g-space gallery in the NMIT building on Nile Street. The exhibition runs from 1-10th August open 9-5pm each day.

Welcome back to Term 3! The year is zooming past and room 3 will try to keep you updated with all our learning. Here are some photos of our cycle safety day with Constable John O'D and Tay. We had a great day and learnt the new left turn rule really easily thanks to some great thinking with Constable John. He said we were the first class in the whole of NZ to try out this new way of teaching the road code and we did a fantastic job. That's because we ARE FANTASTIC!!!!!

Slick

Room 3 is part of the exhibition Slick at NMIT. Slick is about conserving oil and using alternatives. We are making a huge wall hanging out of plastic ice-cream containers. Lecturers from nmit came to video us getting ideas about oil and what else we could use instead. There will be lecturers from nmit coming to interview us as well.
